The harmonized classifications for 37 substances in the list of harmonized classification (Annex VI to the CLP Regulation) have been updated.
This is because the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation has recently been amended by the European Commission and the amendments updated the list of substances with a harmonized classification.
Among the 37 substances, the existing classifications for 13 substances have been revised and 24 substances or groups of substances that have not been previously classified have been introduced.
The amendments also introduced acute toxicity estimates (ATEs) in Annex VI. The ATEs are important to determine the classification for human health acute toxicity for mixtures containing substances classified for acute toxicity.
Companies shall be aware that the revised classifications of these chemicals must be applied from 1 December 2018 onwards and the existing classifications as well as the REACH registrations should be updated with the new information by this date.
