Introduction
On January 1, 2019, The Act Registration and Evaluation of Chemicals, referred to as the chemical evaluation regulation, that is, the Korean K-REACH amendment was officially implemented. The revised regulations require that new chemical substances should be registered or notified before production or import; existing chemical substances (non-PEC substances) need to be registered when the production or import volume exceeds 1 ton / year.
Existing chemical substances (non-PEC substances) manufactured or imported over 1 ton / year must be pre-registered or late pre-registered to obtain the corresponding grace period, and join CICO for full registration during the grace period. If the full registration is not completed after the end of the grace period, chemical substance cannot be legally manufactured and used in the Korean market.
Like EU REACH, joint registration has different roles to choose from. Different roles will affect the registration cost and initiative of an enterprise to varying degrees. Enterprises that intend to serve as Lead Registrant (LR) or Active Member (AM) need to join CICO as soon as possible, otherwise they may miss the preemptive opportunity. Production or importation of existing chemical substances with a tonnage greater than 1,000 tons / year or CMR substances with a tonnage greater than 1 ton / year will have the first deadline on December 31, 2021. High tonnage registration requires large amount of data, and from a time period perspective, full registration should begin as soon as possible.
This training session focuses on the joint registration process for existing substances. Help companies understand how to fulfill their full registration obligations after completing pre- or late pre-registration. At the same time, it will introduce the operation of the registration consortium, data sharing, and how to choose the registration role of the enterprise.
