On 13 November 2012, The National Health and Family Planning of People’s Republic of China (NFHPC) has published the China national standard GB 2762-2012, maximum levels of contaminants in foods.
This national standard replaced GB 2762-2005 partially and was implemented on 1 June 2013. It means that the maximum limits (MLs) of rare earth elements in 7 categories of food claimed in GB 2762-2005 are still valid but other clauses were replaced by GB 2762-2012.
GB 2762-2012 specified the maximum limits of 13 contaminants in more than 20 categories of foods. The confined contaminants are lead, cadmium, mercury, arsenic, stannum, nitrite, nitrate etc. Meanwhile, selenium, aluminum and fluorine contents in corresponding food were no longer limited by GB 2762-2012. There are about 160 MLs for contaminants in food have been set up totally in GB 2762-2012. It would be very helpful to control contaminants levels of food in China.
